I'm absolutely gutted about what's happened to Thomas Pierce. By all accounts, he was a stand-up guy who contributed so much to his community. One thing I haven’t seen discussed much is his background in the Navy. From what I gather, he seemed to have really made an impact during his service. It's haunting to think about someone who served his country being taken so soon and in such a tragic way. Do they have any specialized vets handling the investigation? I know in some cases, they bring in people who better understand the background and psyche of ex-military personnel. I can't imagine what his family and friends are going through. Keeping everyone in my thoughts.
Not sure if anyone else feels this way, but the fact that the authorities called this a "person of interest" while keeping so tight-lipped about their identity is really frustrating. It makes me wonder if this person is considered dangerous or if there's just not enough evidence yet to make anything stick. It’s crazy to think that someone who knew Thomas could be involved in his tragic death. Thomas seemed like such an upstanding guy; good in school, served his country, dedicated to his family. For the sake of his loved ones, I hope we see some progress soon. Anyone here local to Hagerstown or the surrounding area with insights into how the community is handling all this? It sounds like everyone must be on edge, even if they’re saying there’s no threat.
I've been digging into the background of Treaty Line Road, where Thomas was found, and it just raises more questions for me. It's not a major road, more of a secluded stretch. For those familiar with Hagerstown, is there anything noteworthy about that area? Was it known to be a quiet spot, or could it have served a different purpose? It seems random for such a well-respected guy like Thomas to end up there unless he knew who he was meeting. My heart goes out to his family—hoping justice comes soon for them and some peace of mind. If anyone has insights about the location, please share your thoughts.

We were stalked by the man for years. My husband had just quit pipelining. The man had done a construction job on our home and was a client. After endless sleepless nights due to their harassment my husband started looking for him during the day. We had him on trail cams. He was coming in our home while we were asleep and gone. My husband waiting for him outside his property. My husband followed him and they were caught by the train “purposely”. My husband got off the phone with me and walked up to his truck unarmed to talk. The window was obviously never rolled down. It was blacked out. My husband was shot through the window. Our farm, life insurance, and trust fund were stolen.

My husband spent most of the time out of state. He was not well liked in the community. He served on a ship. He was never in combat. He was a mild mannered man easy to get along with. He was extremely triggered where I’m from. Me and my daughter are still experiencing severe harassment.

I am so, so sorry for everything you and your daughter have gone through and are still going through. What you described sounds terrifying and unbelievably exhausting, and I can’t imagine carrying that kind of fear, grief, and stress for so long. My heart really goes out to you both.

I’m not in a position to know or comment on all the details of what happened, but I do believe you deserve safety, support, and people in your corner who can actually help you with the harassment, the legal/financial mess, and the emotional fallout.

If it’s safe for you to reach out (for example, from a device you trust), some resources that might help:

National Domestic Violence Hotline (U.S.) – 24/7, free, confidential. They can help with safety planning, emotional support, and finding local resources, even if your situation doesn’t fit the “typical” picture of domestic violence or Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), text START to 88788, or chat at TheHotline.org or VictimConnect Resource Center – A national helpline for any crime victim (stalking, harassment, financial crimes, etc.). They can help you sort through options and connect you with local services and legal help or Call or text 1-855-4VICTIM (1-855-484-2846) or chat at VictimConnect.org or Indiana-specific help (if you’re still in Indiana):

The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute – Victim Services / Victim Compensation Program can sometimes help with things like counseling expenses, lost wages, and other costs linked to a violent crime. The Indiana Attorney General’s Address Confidentiality Program can help some victims of stalking/harassment keep their address protected on public records. The Center for Victim and Human Rights in Indiana offers legal help with protection orders, crime-victim rights, and related issues for victims of domestic violence, stalking, and other crimes.

Above all, I’m really glad you spoke up. You and your daughter deserve to feel safe in your own lives and to be taken seriously. I’m keeping you both in my thoughts and hoping you find people and systems that actually show up for you.
