I've been following Deric Lee Thomas's case very closely, and something has been bothering me. Has anyone else noticed the discrepancy surrounding the initial assessment of Deric's death? I mean, originally, it was suggested to be a self-inflicted gunshot, but it later shifted to a homicide. This seems like a pretty significant change in the investigation's narrative. I can't imagine how Latasha Salami and Deric's family felt during that back-and-forth. It's like having to experience two different versions of a nightmare. It's heartbreaking anyone should have to go through this uncertainty on top of such a tragedy. I'm really hoping that IMPD is making progress behind the scenes and that we'll soon hear some solid updates. Has anyone else noticed how often this type of flip-flop happens in initial investigations? Could this be due to protocol, or is there usually something deeper that gets uncovered later on? It would be great to hear some thoughts or theories, especially from those with experience or insight into how these investigations work. Deric deserves justice, and his family deserves clear answers.
