Did anyone else come across the information about the citizens who helped Officers Arnold and Martin that tragic day? I was reading through some old articles and it struck me how Ernest Padgett literally stepped in alongside Arnold at such a pivotal moment. It's not every day you hear about civilians joining in to assist law enforcement in such a direct way, and it makes me think about the bravery that often goes unsung. I'm hoping the community back then gave some recognition to Padgett for his courage. It's heart-wrenching to think about him witnessing Arnold’s last moments. It's also a reminder of how interconnected communities were, even then, when facing dangerous situations. My thoughts go out to the Arnold family and all those who were deeply impacted by this tragedy.
