Does anyone else find the story of Patrolman John Harvey Leverett incredibly haunting? To think he was just 19 and so early in his career. It’s tough to imagine the shock and grief his family and colleagues must have felt on June 21, 1916. I’m also thinking about the immense bravery he showed by accepting the risks of his line of work, even as a newcomer to the force. It's a sobering reminder of what those in law enforcement face every day.
I can't help but wonder how his youthful enthusiasm was suddenly met with such a tragic end. Even though justice was served, it's still hard to reconcile the loss. Does anyone know if there are memorials or ongoing tributes for officers like him who paid the ultimate sacrifice? It seems crucial to keep their memories alive for future generations.
