I've been digging a bit deeper into the circumstances surrounding the altercation that tragically took Patrolman Morgan's life, and something keeps coming to mind about the layout of the raid area at Shenandoah Avenue and 22nd Street, NW. It's said that Morgan, Smith, and Terry surrounded the house during the raid, which makes me wonder about the tactical viewpoints they had. Were there any obstacles or structures nearby that might have provided cover or might have been used as a vantage point by the suspect?
Given the chaotic nature of a shootout, especially under the prohibition era's intense pressure, it's crucial to understand more about the physical conditions of that tragic event. If anyone has access to old maps or photos of that area from 1925, it'd be interesting to see what the immediate environment looked like. This could shed light on how things unfolded and assess whether anything might have been different with the current understanding of tactical engagements. Respect to the brave officers like Morgan who put their lives on the line in incredibly tough conditions. My heart goes to the families who lost loved ones in such a tumultuous time.
