I’ve been thinking a lot about the incredible strength and resilience of Deputy Simmons’ family. Losing a loved one is beyond difficult, especially in such a tragic and violent manner. I can’t even imagine what his wife went through being left to care for eight children, with another on the way, all while dealing with such a profound loss. It’s truly admirable how the community came together to honor Deputy Simmons’ service, and I hope that his family felt supported during that incredibly tough time. It speaks volumes about the kind of person he was and how much he meant to those around him. I’d love to hear if there are any memorials or commemorations in his name—anything that keeps his memory alive today.

Has anyone else been following the retrials of the two brothers who killed Deputy Simmons? It's so unsettling how legal systems sometimes work with such complexity and unpredictability. I can't imagine what his family went through during those months, especially his wife who was pregnant at the time. It must have been incredibly difficult for them to live in such uncertainty, wondering if justice would ever truly be served. On another note, it’s curious how their first trial ended in a hung jury, then they faced additional charges months later. It makes me wonder about the evidence presented initially versus what came to light later. Does anyone have more insights on what might have swayed the jurors the second time around? It seems like a rollercoaster of emotions and frustrations for everyone involved.
