I've been following Gabriel Felix Gomez's case, and one aspect that really struck me is just how often we see domestic violence spill over into such tragic outcomes. Gabriel was clearly loved by his family and friends, and to have his life cut short in this way is utterly devastating. It makes you really reflect on how crucial it is for communities to have the resources and awareness to help families in crisis before things escalate to such an irreversible point. Has anyone else been following the case of Gabriel Felix Gomez? I've been thinking a lot about the dynamic between Gabriel and his stepfather, John Mark Altizer. Given that Altizer confessed right away and directed officers to the weapon, it makes me wonder about the mindset leading up to the crime. It’s so difficult to comprehend how disputes within a family can escalate to this level of violence. I can't stop thinking about Gabriel’s children and how they're coping with the loss of their dad.
