Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic case of Gerard Gomez, and my thoughts continuously drift to the devastating impact his loss must have had on his classmates at Mount Vernon High. I mean, can you even imagine being just 16, dealing with all the typical teenage worries, only to be met with this? It really brings home how unexpected and frightening life can be. It’s encouraging to see the school stepping up with counselors – kids need that kind of support when faced with such a shock. I also keep thinking about his friends who were likely with him that night. How do you even begin to process something like this happening so close to you? If anyone hears about ways the school or community is supporting these kids beyond counseling, I'd love to know. There must be so many ways we can help communities build resilience in the face of such horror. Take care, everyone, and keep sharing any new updates you hear. It’s important we stay informed.
