I've been thinking a lot about the role of protective orders and how we can strengthen protections for victims of domestic violence. What happened to Kristin and Griffin is absolutely devastating, and it's clear that the existing measures weren't enough to prevent this tragedy. I keep coming back to the thought: how can we ensure that restraining orders actually protect those in danger? It's frustrating to think Kristin did everything she could by filing the order, and yet Kevin Palmer was still able to commit such an unspeakable act. My heart goes out to their family and friends, and I think we owe it to them and others to advocate for more effective laws and resources. I'm interested to hear what others think about how these orders can be improved or enforced more rigorously.
