I've been following the case of Jamal Spratley, and something that's been on my mind is the role of mental health in violent crimes like this one. During the trial, Dr. Earl Williams testified about Raynard Brown's schizoaffective disorder. I'm not trying to excuse his actions, but it raises so many questions about how the justice system handles defendants with mental health issues. I wonder if there's more that could be done in terms of mental health support and intervention before tragedies like this can happen. My heart goes out to Jamal's family and friends who have to deal with such an unthinkable loss. It's vital we keep talking about these issues so that real change can happen, both in the system and in how society addresses mental health. What do you all think? Is there more that can be done in these situations?
