I can't stop thinking about the two young children who were in the apartment during this tragedy. It's beyond my comprehension how they even begin to process something so traumatic at such a young age. My heart truly goes out to them and the family members now caring for them. It's a long road ahead, and I hope they're getting the support they need from both relatives and professional counseling services. This tragedy should remind us all of the importance of having open, honest discussions with those we know might be in precarious domestic situations, as difficult as those conversations might be. Offering our support or simply just being there for someone can sometimes make a difference. Let's keep focused on advocating for stronger community support systems and resources geared towards preventing domestic violence. We owe it to Deborah, Shaquenda, and especially to those kids to continue shining a light on the importance of speaking up and supporting those who need it most.
