Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the struggles Martin Segura's family must have faced after his tragic death. It's really gut-wrenching to consider how families like his are left to navigate such unimaginable pain while dealing with an environment that offers little justice or closure. The no-snitch culture must have made it feel like the truth was locked away, just out of reach. I can only imagine how difficult it was—and likely still is—for Martin's loved ones, not just in coping with his loss, but also in dealing with the frustration of unanswered questions.
What's even more disheartening is how these communities, stricken by violence and fear, might feel isolated, as if they have to take on these systemic issues by themselves. I wonder if there have been any community-led initiatives or changes in recent years that have tried to address these problems or support the families affected. If anyone has insight into ways these communities have tried to heal or reclaim their sense of safety and justice, I'd love to hear about it.
Let's remember Martin and others like him, and keep pushing for the change that honors their memory.
