I've been thinking a lot about the mental health resources (or lack thereof) within the military, especially after hearing about what happened with Meaghan Burns and Shianne Soles. It breaks my heart to know that two bright young women lost their lives in such a tragic manner. While I understand that NCIS and the local law enforcement did what they could to investigate, I can't help but wonder if more support and intervention could prevent similar incidents in the future. Does anyone here have insight into how mental health is handled in the Navy? Are there ways they could improve to better support service members? I'm hoping that their deaths weren't in vain and that we can learn from this to protect others in the future. Thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Meaghan and Shianne during this incredibly difficult time.
