Hey everyone, I've been reflecting on the incredible life of Joshua Orion Hardy, also known as Dennis Angelo Hoskins. It is so poignant to remember not just the circumstances of his death but the vibrant, meaningful life he led. As an engineering technician with the City of Virginia Beach, and before that, the City of Norfolk, Joshua devoted 16 years of his life to public service—an amazing commitment. His contributions surely impacted many people, though they might never know the person behind the work. What really stands out to me is Joshua's passion for helping others, reflected in his children's book, "The ABC Book On Protecting Yourself From Strangers." It's heartbreaking to consider he spent his life working to build safer communities, only to be taken in such a violent tragedy. I hope his book can be a legacy for children, encouraging awareness and safety as he intended. My thoughts are with his friends and family as they continue to navigate life without him. If anyone knows any efforts to memorialize or continue Joshua's message, please share—I think many of us would want to support. Let's remember him for his creativity, faith, and dedication. Sending love and strength to all those affected by this unfathomable event. Warm regards to you all.

Has anyone here read Joshua Hardy’s children's book, "The ABC Book On Protecting Yourself From Strangers"? I just stumbled upon it while looking into the case and it struck me how thoughtful and caring he was, thinking about our kids' safety. That peaceful, nurturing side of him truly contrasts with the violent events that took his life. It's devastating to think of the light he brought to others through his work, both in public service and in his creative endeavors, only for him to be taken so senselessly. His legacy through that book is something I hope continues to help others long after this tragedy. Anyone else find solace in the positive impact he made? ?

I’ve been thinking a lot about Joshua Hardy, especially considering his contributions outside of his day job. It’s so touching to know he had authored "The ABC Book On Protecting Yourself From Strangers." It’s just so telling of his character—he seemed to genuinely care about the safety and well-being of others, even beyond his professional responsibilities. I can't imagine the impact that book might have had on children and families teaching them crucial safety tips. In such terrible times, it's small comforts like these that help us remember the good in people. I truly hope his legacy lives on and that his family finds peace knowing how much he cared. Anyone know if the book is still out there, or available anywhere? Would be nice to see his message continue to be shared.
