I’ve been following Marvin Briggs’ case, and something that's been weighing on my mind is how often crime seems to happen in that Navajo Court area. I grew up in Petersburg and remember when it was quieter, and it feels so unsettling to think that Marvin’s life was cut short there. I heard through the grapevine that he was just visiting a friend that day. It’s such a cruel reminder of how random and unfair life can be. My heart goes out to his family and anyone who knew him — you can really feel the community’s pain in times like these. It’s hard not to wonder about the deeper issues here and what we can do as a community to prevent these tragedies. Does anyone else have thoughts on community initiatives or ways we can try to help each other feel safer?
