Has anyone else been thinking about the pressures that people like James Shelton must've faced? I can’t even imagine the immense stress he was under, balancing his duties as a sailor and his responsibilities as a father of six. It's just so incredibly frustrating to think that someone could feel so trapped between caring for their family and fearing the very real repercussions of seeking mental health support. Every time I read about cases like these, it just strikes me how vital a robust support system is for our service members. It's baffling that fear of career implications still keeps people from getting help. I really hope this tragedy serves as a wakeup call to change that. RIP James, and thoughts go out to Jennifer and the kids—this must be such a tough time for them. I hope the Navy is taking steps not just to say there are "no repercussions" but to show it through action. Anyone else feel the same way? Are there any groups working on improving mental health access for military members and their families?
