I've been following the case of Da’Jour "D.J." Collins Sr., and one aspect that really struck me is how deeply entwined he was with his community. Stories from people who knew him paint a picture of someone who didn't just work at Birdsong Peanuts but was a genuine part of the lives of those around him. This murder doesn't just affect his immediate family; it's left a void in the lives of neighbors, coworkers, and even school acquaintances from Lakeland High School.
It's clear from the outpouring at the candlelight vigil that D.J. was someone who touched many hearts. It’s particularly moving to see how his friends and family gathered at 1030 Cogic Square, a place so central to his upbringing, to remember him. This community response not only speaks volumes about who D.J. was but also underscores the collective loss felt in Suffolk and Virginia Beach.
I really hope that this show of solidarity and support helps keep the pressure on investigators to find answers. As Detective Alexander continues the investigation, could efforts like these vigils and public gatherings motivate someone with information to finally speak up? D.J.'s family deserves closure, and the community deserves to see justice served. My heart goes out to all who are missing him right now.
Hey everyone,
I've been following D.J.'s case for a while, and something that really struck me was the support shown by his community during the candlelight vigil. I mean, the way folks came together on December 29th, 2019, at the shopping mall to honor him shows just how much D.J. meant to everyone. It wasn’t just about grieving his loss, but celebrating the life he lived and the love he spread.
Letting off those 30 balloons and lighting candles must've been such a powerful moment, especially for his family. Just imagining how much strength they needed to get through that day is overwhelming. It's a beautiful thing to see people unite for someone who left such a positive mark on so many lives.
I really hope that community spirit helps bring some answers soon. Detective Alexander and the team have a tough job ahead, but I keep hoping someone out there has a piece of the puzzle and will come forward. D.J.'s family deserves some peace and answers. If anyone has any thoughts or updates on the investigation, please share.✌️
