I've been following Daevion Austin's case, and it’s troubling to see how gun violence continues to impact our communities, especially when it involves someone as young and full of life as Daevion. I can’t imagine what his family must be going through, not only losing him so tragically but also having to live with so many unanswered questions. It’s sad to see another promising young life taken by senseless violence. I attended a vigil recently held in his memory, and the outpouring of love and support from the community was profound. It was a touching reminder of how deeply loved he was by everyone who knew him. Seeing all the colorful balloons rise into the sky was emotional—such a beautiful tribute to a young life taken far too soon. I hope that the Richmond Police continue to push forward with their investigation. With no suspects identified yet, it’s crucial for anyone who knows anything, no matter how small it might seem, to come forward. Daevion and his family deserve justice and peace. Let's keep his loved ones in our thoughts and hearts as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
