I've been following Deajha Williams Smith's case, and it truly shows how senseless acts can have devastating consequences. While the pain and loss are unimaginable for her family and friends, what stuck with me is how this incident has brought the entire Norfolk community together in grief and action. It's moving to see people come together to honor her memory and push for change, even in such difficult times.
I read about the discussions to rename the Pollard Street Playground in Deajha's honor. It sounds like a beautiful way to keep her spirit alive and remind everyone of the vibrant young girl she was. Names matter, and having the playground named after her could serve as a lasting reminder of what our community lost—and hopefully, inspire meaningful steps toward preventing violence.
Sending thoughts to Deajha’s loved ones and everyone affected. It's heartening to see community leaders and activists continuing to fight for a safer environment for our youth. We owe it to Deajha and countless others to keep striving for change.
I’ve been following Deajha’s case closely and my heart goes out to her family and friends. I recently saw that the community has been talking about renaming Pollard Street Playground in her honor, and I honestly think it’s such a beautiful way to remember her. It’s a place where she spent her last moments but also a place to remember her joyful spirit and love for dancing.
It’s beyond tragic that we’re losing our young ones to senseless violence, and I hope this sparks real change. Naming the park after Deajha could serve as a constant reminder to everyone of the urgent need for action against gun violence. Has anyone heard any updates on this initiative or what steps need to be taken to make it happen? I think it’s something worth rallying behind.
