I recently visited Lebanon, VA, and was reminded of the tragic incident involving William Henry Bailey and Brenda Jane Hicks in 2020. It's been on my mind, especially thinking about the part where Bailey's truck kept moving through the parking lot. I can't imagine how terrifying and surreal that scene must have been for anyone who witnessed it or for those who own the vehicles his truck collided with. It seems like a small detail, but these things ripple out and affect so many people in unexpected ways. I also wonder how the families of both sides are coping, knowing that this tragic moment altered their lives forever. It serves as a stark reminder of how quickly things can escalate when underlying issues aren't addressed. I hope that others can learn from this case so that something similar doesn't happen again in our community or anywhere else. Sending thoughts of healing and peace to all those impacted by this senseless act.
