Hey everyone, as we all continue to process the loss of Keyon "Speedy" Lamar Turner, I wanted to add something that has been on my mind. I've been thinking a lot about the influence Keyon had on the younger kids in his neighborhood. It's clear from everything I've read and heard that he was more than just a talented athlete; he was a guiding light for those who looked up to him. From what I've gathered, Keyon was always present for the youth around him, whether that meant organizing impromptu football matches at the park or just being there to lend an ear. It’s tough to find someone so young who cares genuinely about shaping better futures for others, and it speaks volumes about who he was as a person. It’s such a tragedy that his desire to help others, including Treshaun Snipes, was met with such a heartbreaking end. My heart goes out especially to those kids who won't have Keyon around to inspire and mentor them anymore. Losing such a positive force in the community is a loss for everyone, and I truly hope that his legacy will inspire others to continue the work he started. If anyone else has stories about Keyon and the way he touched young lives, I would love to hear them and keep his spirit alive in our memories.
