It's been years since the *Legend* disappeared, and every mention of it brings up so many questions. I've been reading a lot about maritime disappearances, and I'm curious if anyone has explored the possibility of mechanical failure on the *Legend*. I know that fishing vessels are prone to harsh conditions, but given that the cause of the sinking is still unknown, could it have been something as simple as equipment malfunction? I wonder if the investigation at the time thoroughly looked into the vessel's maintenance history. It just seems like one of those angles that never got enough attention, and maybe looking back through maintenance logs, if they still exist, could shed some light. Thoughts?

I've been reading up on the mysterious sinking of the fishing vessel *Legend* near Cape Douglas back in 1989. Something that struck me about this case is the lack of any distress signal or SOS from the crew. It just seems odd that no radio call was made, even though those guys were experienced fishermen.
