Hi everyone, I've been digging into some old cases, and I'm really interested in the disappearance of Janelle Gerlitz and the others aboard that Piper PA-22 back in '89. One thing that baffles me is the pilot's history of running out of fuel. It’s unsettling to think this happened multiple times. How was he still flying after the first two incidents? Do regulations allow for this, or was it just oversight? Knowing that could potentially have been a known issue but wasn't addressed makes this tragedy even more difficult to understand. It seems like a preventable situation, and I'm curious if any changes were made to pilot oversight or training because of this. If anyone has insights into aviation regulations back then, especially concerning fuel management and pilot accountability, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Stay safe out there.
