I just came across Corbett Beverly's case, and it's so difficult to comprehend the sense of loss his family must be feeling. I saw a post mentioning what a funny and laid-back guy he was, just someone who brought joy to the people around him. It's awful to think someone with such a bright spirit could be taken away so suddenly and violently.
What I find particularly unsettling is the lack of progress in the investigation. It's been nearly two years, and it seems like the trail has gone cold with no suspects in sight. I can't imagine how his friends and family cope with not having answers or justice even now.
The fact that this was the 15th homicide in Petersburg for that year just adds another layer of tragedy.
