I've been reflecting a lot on the bravery and strength Makiba, or "Keebie" as she was fondly called, showed throughout her life. Serving in the Persian Gulf War and being awarded for her contributions speaks volumes about her character. It's profoundly sad to think about how someone who dedicated her life to serving others had her life cut short in such a tragic and senseless manner. It's important to keep her memory alive by sharing stories of her service and how she touched the lives of those around her. My heart truly goes out to her children and family during this incredibly difficult time. I hope that by talking about Keebie's life and legacy, we can honor her in a way that she deserves. If anyone has memories or stories about Makiba they'd like to share, I think it could be a touching way to celebrate her life and the impact she had on those around her.
