I've been reading about the tragic case of Federal Prohibition Agent George Dykeman, and I can't help but feel for his family and the difficult time they must have gone through. One thing that really strikes me is the icy conditions that contributed to such a devastating accident. Living in a place where winters are harsh, I can't count how many times I've lost my footing on ice. It’s a reminder of how unpredictable and unforgiving nature can be, even for those trained to handle dangerous situations. Law enforcement officers faced so many challenges during the Prohibition era, and Dykeman’s slip in that alley underscores the random factors that can change lives in an instant. My thoughts are with those who continue to advocate for safer environments for our officers, even all these years later. Stay safe out there, everyone.
