I recently stumbled upon the tragedy of the Bauer family from 1956 and couldn't shake off a particular thought. Has there been any discussion about William Bauer's mental health leading up to the event? Back in the '50s, mental health issues often went unnoticed or unaddressed, and while it's absolutely no excuse for his actions, understanding his mindset might provide some insights into this unthinkable tragedy. It's haunting to think what might have been going on behind closed doors that nobody saw. My heart goes out to the remaining family members who surely carried this pain with them. It's important to remember these lives and ask ourselves how such tragedies might be prevented in today's context. Do any of you have insights on how mental health was perceived back then, especially concerning such extreme outcomes?
