I've been thinking a lot about Lita Sonrisa Luby and her family today. I can't even imagine what it must have been like for them to be caught in such a terrifying situation. It strikes me how young she was, just 16, and how her whole life was ahead of her. It’s truly a tragedy that she got caught up in this horrible world of crime through no fault of her own. Her death just seems so senseless and cruel. The part that really gets to me is how the system seemed to fail her and her family. No significant arrests or convictions? It makes you wonder how many other cases like this remain unsolved due to fear and intimidation. I can't help but feel for the survivors, Lita's mom and brother, who have had to carry this nightmarish memory with them for so long. Their courage to keep going after such a horrifying event really speaks volumes. I sincerely hope they have found some semblance of peace over the years. It's a sobering reminder of how violence and crime ripple through communities, leaving lasting scars. ?
