I've been thinking a lot about the stress and pressure that officers face on and off duty. Reading about Detective Tamburro's tragic death makes it hit home even more. He wasn't officially working when it happened, but his instinct to protect and serve didn't switch off. It's just deeply moving to realize how dedicated he was, not only to his work but to the safety of his community, even while off-duty. I can't imagine the pain his colleagues in the Essex County Sheriff's Department must have felt losing someone who was undoubtedly not just a coworker but a friend and family member. And for his wife and kids, the sense of loss must have been immense. It’s one of those moments that really makes you stop and appreciate how far law enforcement officers go to keep us safe. RIP Detective Tamburro, your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
