I recently came across Geraldo’s case while reading about missing persons from the early '90s. What stood out to me was the harsh conditions of crab fishing in Alaska. We always hear about how dangerous those trips are, but it’s something else when you read about a specific incident. The area around the Semidi Islands is known for its treacherous weather, and just imagining the cold, icy waters gives me chills. I wonder if the crew was able to conduct a thorough search right after Geraldo went overboard. Those moments after something like that happens are so critical, especially with how fast the hypothermia can set in. Does anyone know if there was any follow-up by the coast guard or local search efforts at that time? It’s these kinds of questions that keep cases like this in my mind.
Hey everyone, I’ve been reading the threads about Geraldo's case and I'm curious if anyone knows more about the weather conditions on that day back in '91 when he went missing? I read that the area around the Semidi Islands can get pretty intense, but I’m wondering if anyone has specifics on that day. Were there any warnings issued? It seems like those conditions could have contributed significantly to the tragedy. Also, has anyone come across any reports or interviews from the crew on the Tani Rae about what happened? Any insights would be appreciated!
