I came across an aspect of William McGuire's case that I haven't seen discussed much here: the timing of the couple closing on their new house. They were just starting a new chapter, so why would Melanie execute such a calculated crime at a time when they should have been packing moving boxes? ? It's baffling to think about the disconnect between their outward life changes and what must have been going on beneath the surface. Their sons, who were probably excited about the move, were blindsided by losing their father and seeing their mother taken away. This must have been incredibly traumatizing for them. It makes me wonder if Melanie had been planning this for a while or if something specific triggered this awful sequence of events. My heart goes out to the boys; they were robbed of their childhood in so many ways and left with a legacy no child should have to bear.
