It's been almost 17 years, and I still think about Jessica Veitch and her sister Melissa often. I used to babysit them occasionally when they were younger, and they were always the sweetest. I can’t even begin to imagine what Dorea, their mom, has gone through all these years. Losing not just one, but both of her daughters in such a tragic way—it just doesn’t seem fair. I remember hearing about the memorial that was set up by the neighbors. People really came together in those hard days, showing love and support in the only ways we knew how. It reminds me how a community can stand strong even when faced with such senseless violence. If anyone has any updates about how the family is doing now or if there's a way to support them, I'd really appreciate it. Let’s keep the memory of Jessica and Melissa alive.
