Hey everyone. I've been following the Breon Hakeem Blackshear case for a while, and something that's been on my mind is the location where this tragedy occurred. It's scary to think about how an alley off New Rose Street, an area that many might walk by without a second thought, became the site of such a horrific event. Places like these, which could be any ordinary alley in any ordinary town, can feel so eerie knowing what happened there. I can’t even imagine the pain that Breon's family must feel every day, passing by the area and being reminded of their loss. It's frustrating that this case is still unsolved after so many years. These spots in our communities should feel safe, not be haunted by violence and sadness. This makes me think about how important it is to reclaim those areas, maybe through vigils or community events, to bring neighbors together and foster a sense of safety and unity. Would love to hear if any locals have insights or remember changes in the neighborhood since this happened. It’s clear the city has a lot of healing to do.
