Anyone else disturbed by the lack of witness protection for Deanna Downs? It's really unsettling to think that someone can be so brave as to report a crime and end up paying the ultimate price for their courage. I keep thinking about those two young sons left without their mom all because of the reckless violence that she tried to put a stop to. What could have been done differently to protect her? It’s so frustrating and sad to see how a system that should protect its citizens let her down. I really hope this case brings more awareness to the need for stronger protections for people who testify. Deanna deserved better, and so do all the others out there trying to do the right thing. Sending love to her family and hoping for changes that can prevent another tragedy like this.
