I've been following the Vince Franklin case for a while now, and one thing that really struck me was the courage it took for community members to eventually come forward. It’s upsetting to think about how fear of retaliation can silence witnesses in such cases. There's so much pressure and danger in these communities, making it difficult to step up and provide crucial information. The Crimestoppers reward was a smart move, but it still wasn't enough to completely break that cycle of silence initially. It's a bittersweet moment when you realize that even with incentives, people are genuinely afraid for their safety. I can't help but think about the many other cases out there that remain unsolved because of these same issues. Kudos to the investigators and everyone who played a part in finding the resolution. It's a relief that Vince's family got some justice, but it's clear there's a lot of work to be done regarding community trust and safety. My thoughts are definitely with Vince's loved ones; they’ve been through so much. I'd love to hear if any of you have ideas or examples of what’s worked in other areas to overcome this hurdle.
