I've been thinking about Kasson Morman, one of the victims alongside Abdul Frazier, in that terrible tragedy on Schley Street. Both were so young, with their whole lives ahead of them. Kasson was just visiting that night, likely excited to spend time with friends on Christmas Day. It's devastating that a simple gathering turned into such a horrific event. The reports saying the conflict stemmed from a dispute over a girl just makes it all the more senseless. It’s deeply concerning how quickly things can escalate to violence among teens. I can't imagine the weight on Kasson's family’s hearts—especially during a time that's supposed to be about love and togetherness. My thoughts are with Kasson's family and Abdul's, as well as with Zainee Hailey's loved ones. The ripple effects of such an event touch so many lives, forever altering families and communities. It’s vital we keep talking about youth violence and work towards preventing tragedies like this in the future.

I still can't wrap my head around this tragedy and how senseless it all is. Thinking of Abdul “Scooter” Frazier and the others that lost their lives that night is just heart-wrenching. What really stands out to me about this case is how it all started over such a seemingly trivial matter—a dispute over a girl. The ripple effects have left so many families devastated and compounded the violence children face in Newark. I'm hoping the attention this case got can spark some real change concerning youth violence in our communities. My thoughts are with Abdul's family and friends; I can't even imagine the pain they are enduring. It’s time we all start paying closer attention to the warning signs that could potentially lead to such tragedies. ?
