Has anyone else been following the tragic case of Thomas Elberling? I’ve been thinking about how this young chess prodigy was caught in a tug-of-war between his parents. It’s clear from various reports that Jens was deeply involved in Thomas's chess activities, possibly to the point of being overbearing. I can't help but wonder if this intensity and pressure played any part in the tragic events that unfolded. It also makes me think about the pressure young talents face and how it might affect their relationships at home. The community’s loss is immense, and I hope Thomas’s story raises awareness about the pressures gifted kids often endure, and the vital role mental health plays in all of this. My thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved Thomas.
