Does anyone else find it absolutely chilling how violence can erupt in the most ordinary of settings? Ana was simply visiting a friend's house—a place where you’d expect to feel safe and relaxed. To think that her life was taken so senselessly outside a friend's home is just beyond terrible. My heart sincerely goes out to her family and those two little children who now have to grow up without their mother. Newark has seen its share of violent crime, but each story feels more gut-wrenching when you consider the ripple effects on the community. I find it so difficult to understand how anyone could do something so horrible over a cellphone. Has anyone heard anything more about the community initiatives after her death? I'd like to know if there are ongoing efforts to improve safety or provide resources for Ana's family.
