I can’t stop thinking about Amit Patel’s case; it just feels like such a devastating blow to his family and the community. One thing that stands out to me is how vulnerable small business owners are, especially in neighborhoods like Irvington. Amit was young, with so much life ahead of him, and all he was doing was helping at his family's liquor store. It makes my heart ache for his loved ones and anyone who’s had to face such unimaginable loss.
While I'm relieved that Rick King was held accountable for the murder and robbery, it doesn’t change the fact that a family has been shattered. It’s a reminder of the importance of supporting these community-run businesses and advocating for measures that can help protect them. Such incidents sadly underscore the daily risks they face, a reality that often goes unnoticed until tragedy strikes. Sending love and strength to Amit's family and the Irvington community.
