I’ve been following the Seidle case and something that's troubling me is the role of guns in domestic violence situations, especially when the person with access to weapons is a law enforcement officer. The fact that Philip Seidle had his service weapon returned to him twice before the shooting gives me chills. The system is supposed to protect victims, but it seems like there were so many missed opportunities to prevent this tragedy. I can’t even begin to imagine what Tamara's family, especially their young daughter who witnessed it all, must be going through. It’s devastating to think that this could have been avoided if the right steps had been taken. How do we ensure that similar situations don’t slip through the cracks in the future? My heart goes out to everyone affected by this senseless act of violence.
