Does anyone know more about the weather conditions when the F/V "St. George" went down? I've read that the area around Unimak Pass can be brutal, especially in winter months, but couldn't find specific details about that day. I'm curious if rough seas or storms might have worsened the situation for the crew. It's baffling how a vessel and its crew could just vanish. If anyone has maritime experience or insight into that region's weather at the time, it might help piece together what happened. The empty life raft was found, which suggests they tried to abandon ship, but what could have led to such a drastic measure so suddenly?

I've recently been reading up on the tragic disappearance of the crew from the F/V "St. George." One of the things that struck me was the discovery of the empty life raft back in January 1992. It's eerie to think about what might have happened out there. The sea can be so unpredictable, and it's haunting to consider the scenarios—did the raft malfunction, were they able to get to it in time, or did something else entirely happen? It's tough to wrap my mind around the idea that not a single clue has been found since. If anyone has information or theories on what could have gone wrong with the life raft, I'm all ears.

Has anyone looked into the weather conditions around the time the St. George sank? I’ve been reading some reports and it seems like there might have been a pretty severe storm in that area when the crew and the vessel went missing. I'm curious if the bad weather could have hampered the initial search and rescue efforts. It's just so strange how neither the boat nor any of the crew members were found despite extensive searches. Maybe the storm played a bigger role than we think? Would be interested to hear if anyone has more information or thoughts on this angle.
