I've been following the Gene Bolie case, and something that's been on my mind is the impact of the increasing violence on the community as a whole. Paterson residents must be feeling a mix of fear and frustration, especially with 19 homicides in 2016 alone. I can't imagine how tough it is for Gene's family and friends to cope with their loss while also worrying about the safety of their neighborhoods. The fact that there's been no arrests or leads in the case is concerning. It makes me wonder if witnesses might be too scared to come forward or if there's a lack of resources to solve these crimes. Bolie's death seems to be a snapshot of a larger issue, and it's scary to think about how these trends can persist if not addressed. I'm hoping for justice for Gene and some peace of mind for the community. If anyone knows anything—no matter how small—I urge them to do the right thing and help the investigators.
