I've been thinking a lot about the beautiful statue of Eric "Uggie" Bowens that was set up after his tragic passing. It truly captures his joyful spirit and stands as a beacon of hope at Bergen Street and Muhammad Ali Avenue. Every time I pass by, it reminds me of the happiness Uggie spread in our community. It’s a lovely way to honor his memory, but it also highlights the deep sense of loss we all feel. It's hard not to get emotional seeing families stop to pay their respects or remember him with a smile or tear. I often wonder if there's more we can do to keep his story alive and ensure that justice is served. I know his cousin Tianna and many others continue to fight hard for answers. I hope the love we all have for Uggie can inspire someone to come forward with information. Newark feels different without him, but this statue keeps his legacy alive and motivates us to seek justice.

Does anyone know if there's been any recent update on the investigation of Eric "Uggie" Bowens’ murder? I was reading about how his cousin, Tianna Hayes, has been pushing hard for justice, and you can just feel the weight she's carrying. It’s like the whole community is standing patiently in this painful limbo, waiting for some semblance of resolve. I understand that these things can take time, but it’s been years, and I keep thinking about how much Uggie meant to the people around him. Those dances and the positive energy he shared so freely are still missed every single day. It's so hard to believe there's still no closure for his family and friends. If anyone’s familiar with how these types of investigations typically proceed or has thoughts on whether more public pressure could help, I'd love to hear your insights. It seems like Uggie deserves that from us, at the very least.
