I've been following the discussions about Ernest Williams, and I can't shake the thought of how deeply his loss must have rattled his loved ones and especially his community. The South Shore neighborhood, like many parts of Chicago, seems to constantly be in the grasp of this cycle of violence, and it breaks my heart to think about the young lives cut short—like Ernest's—that we hear about too often. What’s been on my mind lately is how these unsolved cases can haunt both families and communities for years. Without witnesses or solid leads, it's frustrating to think about the lack of justice for Ernest and those who cared about him. I keep hoping that maybe someone, somewhere, will come forward with information. It’s a longshot, sure, but these families need closure and the community needs assurance that things can change.
