Has anyone looked into the weather conditions on the day Percy was last seen? I’ve been trying to understand what could have happened, and I’m wondering if there were any storms or other factors that might have made the crossing more dangerous than usual. I know that area can get pretty treacherous with the snow and ice, and the river currents could be more unpredictable under those circumstances. If anyone has any insights or local weather reports from that time, it might help piece together more of the puzzle. It’s just so puzzling how fast things went wrong. Any info could be useful to those of us trying to understand how this tragedy could have happened.
Has anyone looked into the weather conditions on January 14, 1993? I came across a report stating there was a significant cold spell at that time, but I'm wondering if there was also a thaw or fluctuation in temperature. If the ice wasn't solid, that could have played a role in Percy’s snowmachine falling through. I know winter in that area can be unpredictable, and shifts in temperature might have created weak spots on the ice. Does anyone have more info on this or know where to find detailed weather records from that time?
I recently stumbled across some old news articles about Percy and can't stop thinking about them. Has anyone looked into the safety regulations around snowmachines at the time? The '90s were a bit different in terms of safety and gear, and I’m wondering if changes in those might have prevented what happened. Did he have any safety gear with him or maybe a GPS? With rivers often being unpredictable, it's hard to imagine how difficult it would be to navigate or foresee hidden dangers when everything’s covered in snow. I know technology wasn’t what it is today, but there might still be some lessons here. Just a thought! Any comments on how people used to prepare for such trips in that era would be appreciated.
