I've been thinking about how much potential Dervy had and how his life was turned upside down for something so senseless. It's really struck a chord with me. He was working hard to achieve his dream of becoming a radiologist, which shows how driven and determined he was. Being a new U.S. citizen, balancing school, and working nights—it takes a special kind of person to handle all that with grace. Can you imagine the kind of impact he could have made in the medical field? It's so tragic that a moment of such reckless violence took that away—not just from him, but from everyone who would have benefited from his future contributions. I keep wondering if there was something more we, as a community, could have done to support young people like Andy and Joel before it reached this point. Maybe preventive measures can help avoid losing more bright futures like Dervy's. My heart goes out to his family and anyone else going through this unimaginable pain.
