I've been thinking a lot about the role of community spaces and their safety in relation to Niyam Deloatch's case. It's incredibly sad to see such violence erupt in areas that should be safe for everyone, especially in broad daylight. It makes me wonder about what we as communities can do to reclaim these spaces and work together to ensure they are truly safe and welcoming for our young people. I feel for Niyam’s family and all those affected; their lives are forever changed. In light of this tragedy, I believe a strong community response could really exemplify unity and spur positive change. Let’s keep the conversation going about ways we can all contribute to making these changes happen.
