Reading up on Shirley Sailor and Donald Goines’ case makes me think about the life Shirley might have lived and the dreams she may have had for the future. It’s devastating that her life was cut short along with Donald's. Even though Donald’s notoriety tends to put the spotlight on him, I can't help but wonder about Shirley as a person. They often call her the "common-law wife," but what do we know about her outside of being connected to him? Did she have aspirations of her own? Was she involved in the literary world in any way, or perhaps had different passions she excelled in? It’s deeply saddening to think there’s not much information out there about her as an individual. I hope that with more awareness and interest in the case, someone might come forward with any recollections or stories about Shirley that can remind us of who she was beyond her tragic ending. My thoughts are with anyone who knew her and continues to seek answers.

I recently came across a detail about Shirley Sailor and it's just been stuck in my mind. From what I’ve read, Shirley had dreams and aspirations that seemed overshadowed by her partner's notoriety. It's difficult to imagine how her own narrative might have flourished had her life not been so abruptly cut short. I’ve always wondered about the personal goals she might have harbored. Did she have any projects or ambitions she was working on that were halted by this tragedy? It’s equally sad and frustrating that her story ended in such an unresolved manner. For those who might have known or remembered her, did Shirley have a voice or passion of her own that could help us honor her life?
