I can't stop thinking about the gut-wrenching experience Jourdan Bobbish and Jacob Kudla's families went through during that horrific week in July 2012. It must have been torture, waiting in agony, hoping for a different outcome. The sheer brutality these young men faced is beyond comprehension. Reading the details about how their car was tampered with by Casey Green and Larry Anderson just adds another layer of betrayal. It's unsettling knowing people were willing to go to such lengths to cover up these heinous acts, even if they didn’t pull the trigger themselves. The way these boys were deceived and lured into such danger is a stark reminder of the lurking threats in urban areas. I can only hope that going forward, we can find ways to better protect our youth from these tragic fates.

I can't stop thinking about the young lives lost from such a senseless act of violence. Jourdan Bobbish and Jacob Kudla were so young and had so much ahead of them, and it's devastating to think about what their futures could have been. I recently read about the controversial statement Frederick Young made during sentencing. It's truly troubling how he used that moment for his own agenda rather than offering any real apology to the families of Jourdan and Jacob. I can't imagine how painful that must have been for their loved ones to hear. It's so important that we remember Jourdan and Jacob as vibrant young people who deserved so much more, not just as victims of this horrible crime. My heart goes out to their families and friends during what must still be an incredibly difficult time.
