I've been digging into the case of William and Norman Paul, and one detail that keeps standing out to me is the discovery of that cooler on 05-25-1997. It's odd to think how a cooler can travel so far and be discovered between St. Lasaria and Biorka Island. Could it offer any clues about their intended route or what might have gone wrong? I find it hard to wrap my head around how, with that specific location, neither the "Delight" vessel nor William ever turned up. The currents in that region are notoriously tricky, but the lack of debris or any further sign of the boat seems strange. Does anyone have insights into similar cases or theories about navigation mishaps in that area? The mystery of the cooler's positioning just doesn't sit right with me.
I've been following the case of William and Norman Paul and recently read about the discovery of the cooler. It's interesting to me how sometimes smaller items like that can tell a larger story. I wonder if ocean currents could have shifted the cooler from the site where the boat might have encountered trouble? Knowing more about tide and weather conditions on May 25, 1997, might help to piece together the movements of the 'Delight' that day. Anyone here good with tracking ocean patterns or have knowledge of that area? It feels like those details could really help narrow down search efforts, even years later.
Has anyone done a deep dive into the weather conditions on May 25, 1997, around the area where William and Norman Paul went missing? I’ve read that the waters near Sitka can be really treacherous with fast-changing conditions. It's just strange that the cooler was found, and then Norman's body later, but absolutely no trace of the boat or William. Could it be that the currents or winds affected their path and eventual locations? Currents around St. Lasaria and Biorka Island are known to be pretty strong. I wonder if anyone's looked into how this could have factored into where the vessel might drift. Thoughts?
